For my first post, I wanted to share something I have found great value in, presenting at conferences. Even though I have only presented at two conferences, I have gained so much from the experiences.
-Met and gained valuable connections from those attending the conference
-Shared my successes in the classroom with other teachers
-Gained insight from suggestions / questions from other teachers regarding my presentation
-Developed my own presenting skills (model what we teach)
My first presentation was in 2008 at the AGIS conference in Hannover, Germany. I presented on a Unit of Inquiry on German Christmas Markets; performance based assessment.
The second presentation was just this year at the 21st Century Learning Conference in Hong Kong, 2011. I presented on Visual Literacy; my journey through using Wordle in the classroom this year.

As a teacher, I love going to conferences, even if I am not presenting something, the amount of ideas one can gain from other teachers is invaluable. I still have a lot to learn and hope I get the chance to present again soon!
